Rock the Drop-Phoenix  2016

Drop Day is Friday, October 14th!

It's time to get ready for this year's Rock the Drop! The American Library Association discontinued their Celebrate Teen Literature Day program in April, so the Readergirlz decided to realign their program with YALSA's Teen Read Week in October. Our new official "Drop Day" is Friday, October 14th. On that day, print out an identifying bookmark from here, place it inside a new or gently-used young adult book, and "drop" the book somewhere for another teen in your town to find. Let the Readergirlz know on their Facebook page or by tweeting them at @readergirlz and using #rockthedrop. You don't have to be a teen to participate. Anyone who loves YA books and is passionate about reading can participate in this fun, guerrilla literacy program.

The 5th Annual Rock the Drop-Phoenix Kick-Off Event

WHO:  Phoenix-based teens who love writing and reading

WHAT: The 5th Annual Rock the Drop-Phoenix Kick-Off Event

WHERE: The large meeting room in the Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert, AZ 85234

WHEN: Saturday, October 8, 2016   1:00-4:30 p.m.

WHY: To spend an afternoon working on your writing craft with local YA authors and networking with other book-loving teens. We will have hands-on, interactive writing exercises, snacks, prizes, and each participant will take home at least one book to "drop" on Drop Day (We don't mind if you read it first over Fall Break).

HOW: The event is FREE, but space is limited. Please register through the SE Regional Library's website here

**Every participant receives one ticket for our prize drawing. You can earn extra tickets (up to 3 total) by bringing in new or gently-used teen books to donate to our communal drop pile.**
